Serum vs Moisturiser

In the world of skincare, serum concentrates have gained popularity for their targeted and potent benefits. A serum is a lightweight, fast-absorbing skincare product packed with active ingredients designed to penetrate deeper into the skin. Unlike moisturisers, which primarily focus on hydrating the skin’s surface, serums deliver concentrated treatments to address specific skin concerns such as aging, sun exposure, dullness, dark spots, pollution and dehydration. We’re all for you doing you, but don’t believe your face needs to give away all your secrets!
The key difference between serums and everyday moisturisers lies in their formulation. Serums have a thinner, water or oil-based consistency with smaller molecules, allowing them to reach the deeper layers of the skin. They are packed with high concentrations of active ingredients like hyaluronic acid, bakuchiol, vitamin C, or peptides (or in Green Panther’s case, all of the above) which work to aid collagen production (which slows as we age), brighten skin, and improve texture.
To apply a serum, cleanse your face first, then pat dry (leaving a damp face to apply serum to). Use a small amount of serum (we recommend 2-4 drops) to your fingertips and gently press or massage it into the skin, focusing on areas that need extra care. Serums are most effective when applied before moisturisers or sunscreen, allowing the active ingredients to absorb deeply and do their thing while you’re getting on with life. Use the serum twice a day – we recommend a multi-tasker such as Green Panther’s Botanical Facelift with maximum Vitamin C and Hyaluronic Acid for morning protection and plumping, and the oil-based treatment, Overnight Revival before bedtime for a full 8 hours of hydration and repair.
